After spending the last three years rebuilding our lives from scratch in Washington, D.C., we now have the opportunity to start fresh. Our passion for restoring vintage motorcycles has been reignited on the eastern side of the Atlantic, in a country that not only supports our enthusiasm but also offers countless opportunities for exciting new projects.
A few months ago, I began searching for a new motorcycle to work on, keeping my options open and not limiting myself to any specific make or model. I didn’t want to dismiss anything too soon. During my search, I came across a couple of old Ducati Monsters and thought it would be amazing to embark on a brand-new project with a bike I had never worked on before. And what could be better than a stylish Italian beauty like a Ducati?
Unfortunately, I couldn’t close the deal on one, and other possibilities were slowly emerging. Ultimately, I found myself drawn to something a bit older than those elegant Italian ladies. After exploring a Yamaha XS 650 and a few classic Harley Davidsons, a question suddenly came to mind: Why not return to my first love? Why not pursue an iconic Honda CB500 from the ’70s?
